I am Senior Lecturer in Medical Education at Edge Hill University, the pharmacist Programme Lead for the University’s Non-Medical Prescribing Programmes and the Prescribing Medicines Safely Theme Lead for Medicine. Since graduating from Bradford University in 1987 I have worked in pharmacy practice across all sectors of healthcare and also in higher education. I qualified as a supplementary pharmacist prescriber in 2005, and as an independent prescriber in 2008. My MPhil in 2013 was entitled: ‘Non-medical prescribing – successful models in community pharmacy’. Whilst my PhD in 2022 focused on 'Patient Safety with Non-Medical Prescribing'.
