eShare is the teaching and learning repository for Edge Hill University. It was created by Learning Services, and is a University wide digital resource for all staff.
eShare is designed to be an online home for teaching and learning resources. When users upload resources they get a page for that resource with a unique web address and an inline preview (including most video, audio and office documents) that means that viewers can see the resource in their browsers before downloading it.
eShare helps teachers, lecturers and other University staff manage their resources through tags and collections, and gives them their own profile that acts as a home page with news and statistics on their resources. eShare users can choose to share their contributions with the world, and in this way establish themselves as leading teachers in their fields.
eShare is built using the EPrints repository platform (developed at University of Southampton). EPrints is a tried and tested research repository system used at over 200 institutions worldwide.
eShare incorporates a set of extensions for EPrints that together create a more dynamic, interactive environment that is more suitable for teaching and learning materials. Key extensions include the resource preview tool, profiles, and collections.
eShare is powered by EPrints 3, software developed by the University of Southampton.
