Biography:
Paul graduated from Leeds Carnegie in 1991 with a BEd (Hons) in Physical Education & Mathematics and taught in schools for 4 years. He was appointed as the Cheshire Youth Rugby Development office in 1995 and then worked at University of Chester for 9 years as Programme Leader for the Combined Hons Sports Science degree and also as the Area Leader for Sports Pedagogy. After a brief spell with Sports Coach UK in 2005 as an Education & Training Manager Paul went to Glyndwr University as Programme Leader for the Community Sports Development and Sports Coaching degrees. Paul’s area of research interests lie in Coaching Pedagogy, with specific emphasis on the development of pedagogical knowledge, TGfU, Game Sense and Sport Education [Reid, P. (2003). He is also interested in Club Development and Talent ID and Development.
Currently Paul is reading for a PhD at University of Bedfordshire with Professor David Kirk, looking at the Evolution and Development of Game Sense in Rugby Football Union.
Since joining Edge Hill, Paul has taken on responsibility for developing a coherent programme for work-placements and volunteer experiences linked into PDP and supporting, academic modules, therefore, providing currency, academic underpinning and relevance to student placements.
