Biography:
I completed my medical degree (MBBS) at Barts and The London in 2009, following which I went on to work as a medical doctor in Mersey Deanery (Health Education North West).
During this time, I was successful in gaining a position on the competitive national Academic Foundation Programme. I also gained a teaching position at Liverpool University's School of Medicine. During this period, I completed a PGCert in Teaching and Learning in Clinical Practice and an MRes in Post-Genomic Science.
I hold a full license with the General Medical Council, as well as Membership of the Academy of Medical Educators, Fellowship of the Higher Education Academy, Membership of the Royal Society of Biologists, Fellowship of the Royal Society of Arts and Fellowship of the College of Teachers.

I have continued to work clinically throughout my academic career, having worked in Warrington and Halton Hospitals, Aintree University Hospitals, The Walton Centre, The Royal Liverpool and Broadgreen University Hospitals and Bootham Park Hospital.
My main areas of experience include General, Acute and Emergency Medicine. I have also worked in Health Care of the Elderly, Cardiology, General and Colorectal Surgery, Neurosurgery and Mental Health. Currently, I work with the Fertility Medicine team at the Hewitt Fertility Centre based at Liverpool Women's Hospital.
Since 2014, I have been working as Senior Lecturer in Advanced Clinical Practice at Edge Hill University's Faculty of Health and Social Care. In this role, I serve as module lead of several Clinical Examination and Diagnostics modules both at level 6 and 7. I have additional teaching and assessment responsibilities on several other modules including Non-Medical Prescribing. I am an OSCE examiner within the Faculty. I serve as a Personal Tutor for research proposals and I sit on the Faculty of Health and social Care Research Ethics Committee. I am also a representative on the Faculty of Education Research Ethics Committee.
Externally, I hold the role of Clinical Education Lead at Liverpool Women's Hewitt Fertility Centre. I am an examiner and medical interviewer at Liverpool University’s School of medicine. At Mersey Deanery, I serve as assessor and interviewer for applicants to the national Academic Foundation Programme for junior doctors.
My research interests include Medical Education, Medical Statistic and Epidemiology, Technology Enhanced Learning, Medical Ethics and Mental Health. I have advanced skills in Statistical Analysis of Quantitative and Qualitative Data. I also have a specialist interest in enhancement of learning environments through application of advanced technology, models and simulation. My other interests include use of electronic portfolios, reflective practice and feedback in personal and professional development of trainees and students.
I am passionate about healthcare education and love working with students, academic and clinical colleagues alike. To this extent, I continually strive to broaden, diversify and enhance the learning environment through use of new technologies, online and interactive learning.
I speak Kurdish (Sorani and Kurmanji dialects), Dutch and German as second languages. I enjoy spending time with my wife and son, as well as walking, cycling, listening to music, reading and writing.
