Biography:
Georgina is senior lecturer in midwifery. She leads on modules on the pre-registration midwifery programme for all three years, post-registration modules at undergraduate and postgraduate level, and contributes to other pre-registration, undergraduate and postgraduate provision within the faculty of health and social care. Making a difference and improving outcomes continues to be her aim; she considers being a part of facilitating the learning of future and current midwives/health professionals is a privilege. She is currently engaged in creative learning for continuing professional development students involving local and international participants.

Georgina is an experienced midwifery professional with extensive clinical, leadership and academic experience. Her wide ranging experience comes from a variety of different positions she has held within the National Health Service, the Armed Forces, and higher education. Her roles have involved change management, leadership, service redesign, organisational development and strategic workforce planning. Most recently Georgina was leading a region wide change management project across all maternity and neonatal units across Yorkshire and the Humber.
Georgina’s clinical links are Aintree Hospitals (antenatal clinic), Bridgewater Community Trust (Runcorn and Widnes), and Liverpool Women’s Hospital. She maintains her clinical skills through practice on a busy labour ward when time allows, and her role as senior instructor/advisory faculty for Advanced Life Support in Obstetrics, something she is passionate about and has been engaged in since 1997.
Georgina is familiar with presenting at conferences at regional, national and international level, and has published a number of articles and reports. She is delighted to be a part of the dynamic midwifery team, and enjoys working with colleagues in the university in driving forward excellence in education and practice. She was delighted to have been nominated to be a supervisor of midwives at Liverpool Women’s NHS Foundation Trust, and was appointed to this position in October 2013.
