Biography:
I qualified as a RGN in 1990 and pursued a career in Head and Neck and Palliative Care nursing over 13 years. I also achieved the Marie Curie Advanced Award. I worked for 12 months in Intensive Care in Australia before following a new career path into Education. My first position in Education was as a Clinical Skills Facilitator in 2002, I then took up a position as Senior Lecturer in Adult Nursing and have continued in this role since 2004. I have a keen interest in teaching utilising high fidelity Simulation and currently teach Care of the Acutely Ill Adult focussing on advanced communication skills and Human Factors to medical students and to student nurses in their third year. I am currently undertaking an MSc in Clinical Education studying Simulation and Leadership. My research interests are around utilising high fidelity simulation as a teaching method within inter-professional learning.
