Maria-Christina is a Registered European Psychologist (EuroPsy) and a certified counsellor by the Association for Applied Sport Psychology. Maria-Christina completed her undergraduate degree in Psychology in the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, Greece [2002-2007], an MSc in Athletic Counselling at Springfield College, USA [2007-2009], and a PhD in sport & exercise psychology at University of Birmingham [2012-2016]. Maria-Christina then worked at University of West England, Nottingham Trent University, Trinity Laban Conservatoire, and Kingston University before taking up her current role at Edge Hill University in September 2017. She currently teaches on the Physical Education degree programme. Maria-Christina’s research interests lie in the area of sport, exercise, health, and counselling psychology. Using both qualitative and quantitative methods her research has focused on identifying effective ways of supporting people in their efforts to adopt and maintain a healthy lifestyle.
