Biography:
Andy completed his undergraduate degree in Sport Science [1995-1998] and a PhD in exercise physiology at Liverpool John Moores University [1998-2004]. Andy then worked at University of Westminster and the University of Cumbria before taking up his current role at Edge Hill University in April 2009. He has been an external examiner for Glyndwr University [2007-12] the University of Brighton [2013-16] and is currently the external examiner for the University of Chester's MSc in Sport and Exercise Science. He currently teaches on the Sport and Exercise science degree programme and is responsible for the sport and exercise nutrition pathway.

Andy’s research interests are centred on endurance exercise and in particular the effect that dietary interventions (before and during exercise) have on metabolism and performance. His current research interests are primarily focused on cycling and multi-sports, but he also has an interest in the validity and reliability of measurements and equipment. Andy is currently on the editorial board of the Journal of Science and Cycling and Frontiers in Nutrition.
